About The Glass

Lutruwita / Tasmania is officially the best island in the world. (At least from our point of view; we live here.) It sits south of the mainland, across Bass Strait, a heart-shaped wilderness of mountains, coastline, rainforest, and quiet towns where the air is the cleanest measured in the world's populated regions. The state actually includes more than 1,000 islands; this glass features the main one.

A stemless wine glass with the outline of the island hand-pressed in 3D into the base. At 440ml, it works beautifully as a wine glass, a cocktail glass, or a daily water glass, with the whole of Tasmania at the bottom of every sip.

We made this for anyone who's lived here, visited, or carries Tasmania with them wherever they go.

1% FOR THE PLANET

Tasmania Collection

Our island home, captured in glass.

Lutruwita is a heart-shaped island at the southern edge of Australia, separated from the mainland by Bass Strait. The Palawa people have called this country home for more than 60,000 years, and the Palawa Kani name is the one we use first, in honour of that.

The state spans some of the most distinctive country in the world. The Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area covers nearly a quarter of the island, including the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park and the takayna / Tarkine rainforest. The east coast carries the orange-lichen boulders of Larapuna / Bay of Fires. The capital, Hobart / Nipaluna, sits on the Derwent River beneath kunanyi / Mount Wellington, which holds snow well into spring. Beyond the coastline lie more than a thousand islands.

It is the cleanest air on record in the populated world. It is home to species you will see nowhere else on earth, including the Tasmanian devil and the orange-bellied parrot. It is one of the last great wild places on the planet, and one of the friendliest.

We made this glass because we live here, we love it, and we wanted to make something that put the whole island in your hand. Whether you grew up on the Derwent, moved over from the mainland, walked the Overland Track, or only saw Tassie once from a ferry deck, every pour brings a little of the island back into your hands.

So pour a drink, find a window, and raise a glass to the island.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What are the glasses made from?

Our glasses are made from borosilicate glass, used in Pyrex and ovenware. It's stronger, lighter, and more thermally resistant than standard glass. It can handle daily use, hot or cold drinks, and the rattle of a dishwasher, while keeping the clarity of fine crystal. Avoid pouring boiling water directly into them, as the glass will become very hot.

Are the glasses dishwasher safe?

Absolutely! Every glass in our range is built for daily use and dishwasher safe on the top rack. They stay clear and residue-free over time. The one exception is the Bay of Fires Tallboy, which should be hand washed to protect the coloured resin in the base.

How durable are the glasses?

Borosilicate is one of the most durable glass materials available and withstands everyday use, but no glass is unbreakable, especially on hard surfaces like concrete tiles. Normal handling, washing, and shipping rarely cause breakages.

How do you get the 3D design into the glass?

Each design is hand-pressed into the base. After shaping, the glass is reheated and carefully pressed by hand onto a graphite mould in the shape of the 3D design, forming a raised silhouette of the icon. Once the glass cools, you’re left with a one-of-a-kind glass. Because every piece is pressed by hand, no two are ever exactly alike, so yours carries its own small story of the place it came from.

Do you offer corporate or wholesale orders?

Yes. We work with gift shops, galleries, national park visitor centres, and corporate event organisers across Australia. Custom branding is available and minimum order quantities apply. Visit our wholesale page for full details on pricing, MOQs, and customisation options, or get in touch directly to talk through your brief.
